Billet Ile de France and zones

Postby Elsa on Mon Apr 13, 2009 11:16 am

Dear Ben,
One of my questions is still pending: If you travel from say Châtelet to Versailles and you have a Carte Orange for 2 zones, in what station do you buy your supplementary billet Ile de France to get to Versailles? At the end of your 2 zones, or at the beginning of your journey at Châtelet? Do prices differ if you buy the billet closer to Versailles?

Hi Elsa,

Sorry for missing your question.

The last station in Zone 2 on the RER C that goes out to Versailles (direction Versailles Rive Gauche) is Issy. Stopping at this station and purchasing a billet Ile-de-France from the ticket booth will get you the right fare. The billet costs 1.50€ from Issy (you can also use Issy Val de Seine, also in Zone 2).

If this sounds like too much hassle, a full billet IdF from Paris (zone 1) to Versailles is 2,90€.

To find fares along with itineraries, see http://www.transport-idf.com/

Hope you're doing well,

Ben
