Hi Helena,
When you arrive at
Gare Montparnasse, make your way to the bottom level where there is an entrance to the Paris Metro. From there, purchase a
Billet Ile-de-France for Aeroport Charles de Gaulle (one way or "Aller Simple") from either the ticket window or through a ticket vending machine (if you have at least 8,40€ in coins or a smart-chip credit/debit card). There will be two types of ticket vending machines,
blue boxy Billetterie Ile-de-France machines and
white RATP Metro ticket machines. Either one will sell you tickets to Charles de Gaulle Airport, so use whichever has fewer people lined up to use it.
This single billet Ile-de-France is good for your entire journey to the Airport, starting with the
Metro at Gare Montparnasse (insert the ticket into the turnstile and retrieve it again before you pass through the gate) and then on the
RER B at Denfert Rochereau (in Paris) to Airport CDG. Separate tickets for the Metro and RER are not necessary.
For the Metro portion of your trip (from Montparnasse Bienvenue, the Metro station connected to Gare Montparnasse), take Metro Line 6 towards Nation
or Metro Line 4 towards Porte d'Orleans, getting off at station
Denfert-Rochereau. Either line will work.
Once you've arrived at Denfert Rochereau Metro station, you'll need to change to the RER B train traveling in direction "Aeroport Charles de Gaulle". Follow the signs you'll see posted throughout the Metro station pointing to the RER B line. When you've found the RER B train platform, check the overhead screens and
RER B station stop panels to make sure you're headed in the right direction.
When you arrive at either of the two CDG Airport train stations you may need to use your billet Ile-de-France to exit the train platform, so be sure to keep it with you until you enter the airport terminal. Aeroport Charles de Gaulle Terminal 2 TGV will be the final stop on the RER B train, with Terminal 1 just before it.
See the
RER B Paris to Aeroport Charles de Gaulle guide for more information.
