Did we allow enough time?

Postby akrickharris on Fri Mar 13, 2009 8:49 am

Hi Ben-great site!! We arrive from the US at CDG(Air France) at 8:30AM and have tickets from Gare Est to Zurich leaving at 12:30PM. How tight is our schedule in getting luggage, clearing customs, taking RER B to Gare Nord and walking to Gare Est? Thank you

Hi Rick,

You should be able to make your connection from CDG to Gare de l'Est with 4 hours. Depending on where you're sitting, passport control can take anywhere from 5 min to 40 min., luggage will take about 35 min., walking to CDG Train station will take about 15 min. on average, buying tickets will be about 15 minutes, about 40 minutes for the RER B into Paris, Gare du Nord, which you can then transfer on foot or by Metro for one station to Gare de l'Est (Line 5, direction Place d'Italie). Walking may be faster, but you'll have to get your bearings from Google Maps + Street View to make sure you don't get lost.

By my estimation you'll have about one hour to spare after arriving at Gare de l'Est.

Good luck!

Ben
