less-than-week passes on NaviGo?

Postby vaydapro on Sat Feb 14, 2009 5:45 pm

Firstly, kudos on an EXCELLENT site. Well written, well designed. Great job!

I travel to Paris several times a year. I am coming in March, and the NaviGo week pass would work wonderfully for that trip. At future visits, however, I may need only a few days.
Can you "top up" the NaviGo with anything LESS than week?

Thanks in advance...

Hi Vaydapro,

Pass Navigo's Carte Orange subscriptions are week-long at a minimum. Really unfortunate this.

Alternative Paris multi-use tickets:
  • Ticket Mobilis unlimited ride day tickets (same zone choices as the Pass Navigo: 1-2 zone up to 1-6 zone).
  • Paris Visite 1-3 zone or 1-6 zone, 1, 2, 3, or 5 day unlimited ride ticket

I know the Paris Visite is seen as a tourist-only pass, but I've used it over my Pass Navigo when it better suits my travel needs. I've actually been using carnets of Ticket t+ a lot more these days, since I'm making less trips per day within the city and I'm walking a lot more (less than 4 trips/day makes single tickets the cheapest option).

Thanks for the kind words about the site!

Best regards,

Ben

Hi Ben;
Seems that the ability to add a “subscription” of less than a week on a pay-as-you-go basis would be a good idea. Ah well.

Here’s my thought: We're staying out in Zone 5 for a week. So, we'll have at least one trip in/out to city center each day, possibly a ride or two w/in Zone 1 each day.

And, as luck would have it, we’ll be there from Monday – Sunday. So it seems as if NaviGo actually may be the best option.

UNLESS we could use individual return tickets (I think these are called "Billet Ile-de-France") from Orsayville, in Zone 5 (where we are staying), to Zone 1 and then use Tickett+ as needed in Zone 1. ?

But I can’t seem to find pricing for these individual RER tickets (at least in English) on ratp.info.
Can you point me in the right direction?
Many thanks!

Hey Vaydapro,

Here is the page for the Paris Billet Ile-de-France ticket price tool (French only). Just enter in the name of the station and it will auto-magically narrow down the possibilities for you to select from.

Enjoy!
