Paris Gare de Lyon to Beauvais and other Questions

Postby sb2533 on Wed Feb 11, 2009 4:37 pm

Hello,
My friends and I will be traveling to Paris in a couple weeks. I really have no idea how to get around once I am there, so I have been doing some researching. We will be flying into CDG and need to get to the city, which I have read the RER is the best way to do so (would you agree?). A couple of days into the trip, we will be taking a train to Lyon. I can't seem to find the location of this train station! But that isn't the most complicated part of the trip; we will be returning to Paris and have to get to Beauvais airport directly from Garde de Lyon. I cannot find any answers as to how to make this happen. Lastly, we are flying back into Beauvais airport, and then flying out of CDG several hours later. What would you say is the cheapest/easiest way to get from one airport to the other. We will have some luggage, but we can carry these bags pretty easily. I know this seems like a lot of different places, but we booked the original tickets thinking we wouldn't be leaving France, but some of our plans fell through and we decided to explore a little further. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Hi Stephen,

Here are some articles that will answer your questions:

CDG to Paris by RER (Check out the photo guides for more step by step guidance: CDG Terminal 2 to Paris and CDG Terminal 1 to Paris.)

Gare de Lyon serves the Paris to Lyon route by TGV train. See the Gare de Lyon photo tour to orient yourself with this train station.

To get to Beauvais Airport from Paris you have two options: shuttle bus from Porte de Maillot Metro station or Train from Paris - Gare du Nord to Beauvais + shuttle to airport (you'll have to follow the directions in reverse for this article.)

Beauvais to CDG airport is a bit tricky in terms of timing. Beauvais to Porte Maillot in Paris is about 1h 15m by shuttle, then another 60 minutes to get to CDG by Metro and RER train for a total travel time of about 2 hours 15 minutes. You can shave about 25 minutes off this second leg between Porte Maillot and CDG by taking a coach bus Les Cars Air France between Porte Maillot and CDG Airport.

Best of luck!
