Paris visit pass

Postby mnarvind on Tue Mar 31, 2009 4:43 am

Hi ,

I am planning to visit Paris for a weekend on April 11th and 12th from Prague. I have never been to Paris before.

I will be landing at CDG airport or Orly.

Please let me know what type of pass I have to buy to go around Paris from either CDG or Orly by Train/Bus for 2 days.

I would appreciate some fast replies.

Thank You,

Arvind.

Hi Arvind,

For two days, complete coverage for all trains, buses, and trams and even Orlyval train between Orly and Paris can be had by purchasing the Paris Visite 6 zone pass for 2 days. This can be done at the Orlyval train station at either Orly Sud or Orly West terminals or at CDG train stations.

Best regards,

Ben

Thanks a lot Ben.

Now I am ready to go to Paris. I will be there from the 11th to the 13th . I have another question though. I saw a website https://www.discoverfrance.com/ which is selling the Paris visite pass and the museum pass for $60 and $45 respectively. Is this a good place to buy?

My question is where do I get the Visite pass and the museum pass? Is the visite pass valid for the train from CDG to Paris and back?

Could you suggest a good website that would help me maximise my time in Paris? I have half a day on Saturday and till 10 am on Monday. I plan to Visit the usual suspects....Eiffel,Arc De Triomphe,Champs Elysses,Notre Dame, Sacre Couer, Louvre Museum,Invalides, Gare De Lyon and if possible La Madeline.

Thank you for your patience...

Arvind.

mnarvind - note that you would only need the 6 zone Paris Visite if you plan to stay in a hotel far out from the center or venture out of the central part of Paris, which it does not appear from your list of places to visit that you will do. For most visitors, the zone 1-3 is sufficient (and costs half as much as the 6 zone pass) and would get you to all the places you mention. You would need to pay separately for Orlyval (if you are flying into Orly) but even doing that you would still save a few euro.
The prices on the site you mention are marked up considerably. You can buy the Paris Visite at any metro station - the 3 day, zone 1-3 adult Paris Visite price is 19.60 euro.
As for the museum pass, it does not look like it would be a particularly good buy for you. The fastest way to get into the Louvre is to enter via the Carrousel du Louvre and use the ticket machines.
Enjoy Paris!
