Taxis at Gare du Nord

Postby boink on Fri Oct 17, 2008 10:07 am

I'm arriving at CDG in the evening with a large piece of luggage and a laptop. I don't want to pay 45-50 for a taxi, so my plan is to take RER to Gare du Nord, then taxi to my apartment in the 3rd.

1. Will it be easy to get a taxi at Gare du Nord?

2. Does this make sense as a reasonably economical way to get from CDG to Paris with luggage?

thanks!

Hi Boink,

Yes, your plan of RER from CDG to Paris + taxi makes perfect sense.

Finding a taxi is easy at Gare du Nord. Within the station there will be plenty of blue Taxi signs pointing towards the western end of the station leading onto Place Napoleon III. That road is where the taxis wait to pick up passengers.

Here's a satellite photo of Gare du Nord's western edge showing taxi cars along the road. Taxis in Paris are almost always luxury vehicles with little Taxi signs affixed to the top, but are otherwise appear like normal vehicles, no yellow paint jobs.

Best regards,

Ben
