Hi there

I have booked a TGV on this route for April 12th , return 19th. All great, direct train etc.

When I went on raileurope to book my parents for April 6th to 21st, no trains come up. When I called Raileurope they said they thought there might be engineering works.

There are still routes showing for Paris Gare du Lyon to Nimes though.

Do you know of any works going on at the airport etc?

Worried now our original booking will be affected as there are no trains showing online for these dates either now. Raileurope were not too convincing in their re-assurances simply saying we have tickets ( e-tickets ) so it is fine.

Can anyone help ?

Plus, best/quickest alternate route from Airport to Nimes? Taxi to Gare du Lyon and then direct train down to Nimes seems a like we are coming back on ourselves.

I just checked Voyages-SNCF.fr and I see two TGV trains with seats available from Airport CDG to Nimes on April 6, 2009 leaving at 11h43 and 16h52. There are several return trains from Nimes to CDG for the 21st of April as well.

See my article on Buying TGV tickets without fees and see if you succeed in finding the tickets you want for your parents for the CDG - Nimes route.

I would be very surprised if they shut down the entire Aeroport CDG 2 - TGV train station for days at a time without any trains leaving or arriving.

Taking a TGV train from Gare de Lyon to Nimes wouldn't really be back tracking, (it's along the general path). Most people take an RER train from CDG T2 to Paris then continue their travels from the major train stations such as Gare du Nord and Gare du Lyon as needed.

Thanks Ben, really helpful.

Followed your advice and went on the French website ( strange the RailEurope variant still does not show any trains when you try there ). The 1652 looks to have 2 changes whereas we are going direct on the 12th.

Am I to assume the direct train has sold out ... tried a few other dates before and after but to no avail.

My parents would prefer not to have to haul luggage on and off the various trains

Hi Neil,

I checked the CDG to Nimes TGV trains again. You're right, only trains left are those with two transfers required: one at Lyon and one at Valence. There will be a little luggage wrangling necessary. Perhaps it'll be an incentive to pack light for them.
