The cheapest way of getting 'round Paris

Postby Marjolein on Sun Jun 14, 2009 6:04 am

Hello!

27th of July untill 31th of July my boyfriend and me are visiting Paris. We are planning a trip to Chateau Versailles but the rest of the days we will stay within the city. Our train back home departs from Paris Nord. We will stay in the city from monday afternoon untill friday evening and our hostel is located in Montmartre. We would like to know what the cheapest way is for us to use public transport in Paris.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Marjolein from The Netherlands

Hi Marjolein,

I'd recommend getting a Carte Navigo Découverte, 1-2 Zone, for the week, once you arrive at Gare du Nord. You can also purchase return tickets for Chateau Versailles at the same time you buy your Carte Navigo (and you can use these tickets at anytime). In total for one person this will be 16,80€ + 5€ + 5,60€ = 26,60€ (Navigo + card fee + return versailles tickets) if I'm up-to-date on my prices.

This will be the cheapest option that will cover all your transport needs for the week.

Best regards,

Ben
