Tight connection CDG to Gare de Lyon

Postby Denny on Sat Mar 14, 2009 8:53 am

I arrive at CDG (terminal 2) at 0730. I have booked tickets on the 1028 out of Gare de Lyon for Dijon.

Any suggestions for making the connection as painless as possible would be appreciated. In particular, I need to make the RER B out of CDG by 0900, 0910 at the latest. We will have carry-ons, will need to clear customs and get to the right platform. Is there a way to get the RER tickets in advance.

At GdeL I will need to go to a ticket booth and get my tickets, then get to the right platform. Again any advice on how to get my tickets fastest and find the right platform would help.
If you can't tell, this will be our first time in France.

Thanks.

Hi Denny,

The best way to cut down your connection time when at CDG is to study the maps and pictures for the CDG Terminal 2 to Paris by RER B. If you have only carry-on baggage you won't have to waste the 30 minutes it takes to get your baggage, which will help.

When you arrive at Chatelet Les Halles, you must transfer to an RER A train which thankfully is on the same platform. Simply walk straight across from the RER B to the RER A at the other side of the same platform and board the next train, which will stop at Gare de Lyon.

There is no way to get tickets for the RER B ahead of time besides buying a Paris Visite 6 zone pass before you arrive in Paris. If you're using this for only one trip, it's a bit extreme & expensive, but it would work.

Best regards,

Ben

Thanks for answering, Ben.
I assume I have to buy the RER and sncf tickets separately. I heard the lines are longer at CDG are longer so I should wait to the Gare de Lyon to pick up my sncf tickets, right?
