Train to Paris

Postby Sarah on Mon Oct 27, 2008 9:19 am

Hi,
Just wondering if you could help me out. All these trains are so confusing.
I'm arriving into Paris in Terminal 1 and I want to get to the Gare Du Nord station (Eurostar).
What train do I get to take me directly there? And how will I know which stop to get off?
I'm afraid I'll miss the stop or get off at the wrong one. Do they have the little map things inside the train, do you know the one's I mean with the upcoming stop highlighted.
Hope ya get back to me, I'm totally lost ha.
Thanks.
Sarah

Hi Sarah,

No problems. France's train network is huge and can be confusing to non-regular travelers.

See my article on CDG Terminal 1 to Paris which will guide you step by step from the Airport to Gare du Nord.

The train, the RER B, will have line maps above the doors (on the inside) showing all stops and stations along it. To my recollection, the RER B trains do not use the "lit" signs which change as the stops are reached. My RER train maps article has line maps for download if you'd like to see one in advance. Each time the train stops at a station you can just have a look out the window or door and verify where you are along the route.

Gare du Nord is super popular. A large amount of people will be getting off at this stop. It'll be hard to miss. The station is underground and you'll see plenty of signs on the wall saying "Gare du Nord" as the train comes to a stop.

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns,

Best regards,

Ben
