Travel by Train in Paris

Postby Sanj on Mon Jan 26, 2009 5:46 am

Dear Sir,

I am travelling to Paris on a Sunday by Eurostar. We plan to spend the Sunday in Paris, but nit sure where we are staying yet.

The Monday and Tuesday we will travel by Metro/RER to Eurodisney.

Can you please advise the cheapest way to get around please and what tickets we would buy.

Thanks you

Hi Sanj,

If you're not planning on taking the Paris Metro or RER more than 4 times per day within Paris central, I would suggest purchasing a Carnet of Ticket t+ (i.e. a book of ten or twenty Metro/RER Zone 1 tickets). This will allow you to get about Paris on the bus, metro, RER, tram as needed, without underutilizing a multi-use ticket or pass such as the Ticket Mobilis or Carte Paris Visite. To make a Ticket Mobilis 1-2 zone day ticket (5,80€) worthwhile, one must make 5 or more trips on the Metro/Bus/RER. Individual Ticket t+ are sold at a cost of 1,60€. In books of ten (carnet) they cost 1,14€.

For your trip to EuroDisneyland, see the Paris to EuroDisney article for information on how to complete that trip and which tickets to purchase.

Best regards,

Ben
