The train ticket between CDG Airport and Paris city center is now officially known as a “Ticket Métro Train Aéroport CDG” or simply “CDG Airport Ticket” costs 11.80€, must be put onto a Navigo Easy card (2€) or your mobile phone or Apple Wallet (no additional card fee) and is good for transfers for 2 hours on both Paris Metro and Paris RER trains in all Paris fare zones 1 – 5.

The CDG to Paris RER B train ticket has changed significantly as of July, 2024.  Below is a summary of the changes.

Updates to CDG-Paris Ticket as of July 11, 2024

Summary of Changes:

  • ticket name change
  • expanded transfer coverage
  • requires Navigo Easy card or mobile phone
  • can’t have both Metro tickets & CDG Airport Train Tickets on same card/phone

Ticket Name

The train ticket for the RER B train between CDG Airport & Paris is now officially called a “Ticket Métro Train Aéroport CDG“.  Formerly this ticket was simply “Billet Aéroport Paris – CDG” and was a RER Origin-Destination ticket good for CDG Airport to Paris plus the usual transfer rules of any RER ticket on the Paris Metro and RER stations in zone 1 of the Paris RER train network.

Expanded Transfer Coverage

As of July 11, 2024, the new CDG Airport train ticket, which still includes transfers to any Paris Metro station, now also covers transfers to any Paris RER train station in any of the 5 Paris region fare zones (see map), not just central Paris RER destinations.  Previously the CDG B RER ticket only included transfers to RER train destinations inside Paris Zone 1, i.e. central Paris (roughly within the inner / green Blvd Périphérique).

With the expanded transfer coverage of the CDG Airport Metro Train ticket you can now travel from CDG Airport (in zone 5) into central Paris (zone 1) and back out to Disneyland Paris (in zone 5) or Versailles (in zone 4) on the same single train ticket for 11.80€ (plus Navigo card fee, if needed. See next point.)  Before July 2024 a CDG to Disneyland train ticket would have cost 16.85€ due to the extra fee for the Paris to Disneyland leg, but now only costs 11.80€ due to the new expanded CDG Airport train ticket coverage.

The CDG Airport Ticket now also includes transfers onto express trams T11, T12 and T13 at the edges of central Paris.  But regular trams T1 – T10 and Paris city buses / night buses are still not included in the transfer coverage of the new CDG Metro Train Ticket.

In the reverse direction, when traveling from Paris to CDG Airport, the CDG Airport ticket can be used to begin your trip from any Paris Metro station, any Paris RER station in zones 1-5 or any Transilien train station in zones 1 – 5, to eventually transfer to RER B train to complete your trip to CDG.  Your overall journey must be completed in 2 hours (120 minutes) in order for your CDG Airport train ticket to open the fare gates after arriving at CDG Airport train stations.

Navigo Easy / Mobile Phone

As of July 11, 2024, the train authority is transitioning away from selling RER B CDG-Paris train tickets as single-use disposable paper RER/billet origin-destination tickets (the size of a rectangular postage stamp 1in. x 3in. or 2.5cm x 7.5cm).  Travelers are now directed to buy the CDG airport RER B metro train ticket on a Navigo Easy card (2€) or on your mobile phone using Apple Wallet or one of the official Paris transport mobile phone apps (no extra fee).

You can now buy Navigo Easy cards directly from automated ticket vending machines at CDG Airport.  In a single transaction you can buy multiple CDG to Paris Metro Train tickets for RER B on several Navigo Easy cards directly from automated ticket machines or from staffed ticket window/ticket offices at CDG airport train stations.

Can’t have both Metro tickets & CDG Airport Train Tickets on One Card/Phone

It is currently not possible to load both Paris Metro tickets (Ticket t+) and RER B CDG-Paris Airport train tickets onto the same Navigo Easy card or mobile phone/mobile app at the same time! Only one of these two fares can be loaded onto a Navigo Easy/mobile phone at one time.  If you need both Paris Metro/Ticket t+ and  Paris Airport Train Tickets you will either need two Navigo Easy cards, or one Navigo Easy and one supported phone: one to hold the CDG Airport Train Tickets and another to hold Paris Metro Ticket t+ tickets.

Before July 11, 2024, CDG-Paris RER B tickets could not be put onto Navigo Easy cards at all; they were only available as a single-use, disposable paper coupon-style ticket (pictured above).  Now, the CDG Airport Ticket / “Ticket Metro Train Aéroport CDG” must be put onto a Navigo Easy card or your mobile phone or Apple Wallet; it doesn’t exist as a single-use paper ticket any longer.

The reason for the switch is the current administration of the regional train authority (Ile-de-France Mobilités) aims to remove all single-use paper tickets for public transport in Paris/Ile-de-France region by 2025, in order to reduce paper waste, the number of demagnetised tickets requiring replacement and simply lost tickets.

Ile-de-France Mobilités is working on a solution to allow loading of both Paris Metro tickets (Ticket t+) and CDG Airport Tickets onto their mobile phone apps at the same time, sometime in 2024 after the Paris Olympics.
