Access to Musee D'orsay August 16-20

By | August 9, 2023 | in

I have 9:30 a.m. tickets to Musee D'Orsay for August 19, and have received an email from the museum regarding significant road closures in the area from August 16-20 due to Olympic preparations, as follows:
"As a result, access to the Musée d'Orsay will be restricted from Wednesday August 16th to Sunday August 20th, 2023.

To get to the museum as easily as possible, we recommend you take metro line 12, get off at Solférino station and take exit number 2 (rue de Bellechasse Musée d'Orsay) or get off at Assemblée nationale station and take exit number 1 (boulevard Saint-Germain Assemblée nationale): you won't have to go through any intersections. Alternatively, take line 1 (Tuileries or Concorde station, crossing the Tuileries Garden)."
In light of the above, could you please advise on the simplest way to get to Musee D'Orsay from Gare de Lyon and the time I should depart to arrive by 8:45 a.m. I do not mind walking, and would be following google maps.
Thank you so much for your answer regarding simplest route between Gare de Lyon-Versailles! I will follow it to the letter.
Thank you so much,
Susan

Hi Susan,

I believe the simplest route would be taking Metro line 1 from Gare de Lyon towards Grande Arche La Defense until Tuileries station, walking across Jardin de Tuileries and walking across the pedestrian bridge to Musee d'Orsay.

Google Maps suggests 26 minutes for that (including walking) so say 30 minutes plus a few extra minutes waiting for Metro 1 to arrive/depart at Gare de Lyon.  So to arrive by 8:45am I'd say 8:10am at Gare de Lyon Metro 1 station should be pretty safe.

Have a great visit to the Orsay,
Ben
