RER - to purchase a ticket at the vending machines, do they accept bank cards, credit cards and cash or only cash?

Paris train ticket machines will accept Visa / Mastercard credit cards, European bank cards, and some ticket machines will also accept Euro coins (not cash).
I'm not sure if non-European bank cards will work with the Paris train/Metro automated ticket vending machines. I have some doubts.
