I am arriving to Paris on a Saturday morning and I plan to stay for next 8 days, leaving the following Sunday. I think my plan of buying two day passes, for Saturday & Sunday, and then the navigo decouverte, for monday thur sunday, is the best way to go? I am just a little confused of your explaination of it's best to buy or not. Thank you for your help.

Yes, if you plan to use Paris Metro / RER a lot on the first Saturday / Sunday of arrival, then Navigo Day pass for those two days, plus a Navigo week pass for Monday - Sunday would be the best option.
