4 People @ 3-Days in Paris

By | July 29, 2025 | in

Hi,
Four of us, 2 adults and 2 children (7, 8), will be visiting Paris shortly for 3 days/3 nights. It's not clear to me if buying transit passes for all of us will be more beneficial than simply using Uber/etc. to get around as necessary. I'd appreciate your advice on this.
Note: having been to Paris a few times before, two of us (the adults) hold Navigo cards that can be reloaded. The children do not. We will have multiple pieces of luggage, so the train from CDG to the city isn't very appealing. The question is more about efficiently and cost-effectively getting around the inner city where walking isn't practical.
I hope to receive your suggestion(s). Thanks in advance!

I would agree it's a trade-off between cost and convenience when traveling with a group that fills a vehicle.  Often times with four people, it makes more sense just to grab a taxi/Uber for a trip when traffic isn't a concern and convenience/comfort is worth the extra cost.  Especially when wrangling luggage.  The flat rate taxi fare from CDG to left bank or right bank also eases worry about your driver making an excursion.

For trips in the inner city where walking isn't optimal, the single-use tickets like the Metro-Train-RER ticket or Bus-Tram Ticket would need Navigo Easy cards, not Navigo Decouverte (which cannot hold single-use tickets).  So, if you decide you want to make some public transport trips, grab a set of four Navigo Easy cards.  Each one-way trip for your family would be 7.50€ (2 adults, 2 children) on the Metro or RER and 6€ for buses or trams.  For Uber or taxis I'd estimate a 5km trip would cost around 15-20€.  (Starting fare should be around 8€ and then 2€/km after that).

Hope that helps.
