Purchasing (and storing) single trip tix on RER and Metro

Hi Ben.
So happy to find this resource.  Could you help clarify a few things for my travel during the paralympics? I want to take RER+Metro (with an underground Metro xfr) from CDG to my accommodations.  I may need to take Metro later, but not sure.  Can I buy a single trip RER fare and store on a Navigo card (will have to buy one as my phone doesn't support NFC pymt)?  And then, if I need to travel by Metro later, add single trips later in the day once I know my plans?  I've been a little confused too about this statement in your article:
"It is currently not possible to load both Paris Metro tickets (Ticket t+) and the new CDG Airport Ticket onto the same Navigo Easy card or mobile phone/mobile app at the same time! Only one of these two fares can be loaded onto a Navigo Easy/mobile phone at one time.  If you need both Paris Metro/Ticket t+ and  Paris Airport Train Tickets you will either need two Navigo Easy cards, or one Navigo Easy and one supported phone: one to hold the CDG Airport Train Tickets and another to hold Paris Metro Ticket t+ tickets."
Is it just that you cannot store the two types at one time, or you can't use the card for two types?  I'm hoping it's the former and that I can use the same card to buy one fare at a time as needed. Thanks.

Hi there,
The issue with the Navigo Easy card and the CDG Airport Ticket + Paris Metro tickets is an "At the same time" problem, not a "two different types" problem.

So, once a CDG Airport Ticket is loaded onto a Navigo Easy card (and remains unused), that Navigo Easy card can't be loaded with Paris Metro tickets until the CDG Airport ticket is used up.

Same problem in the reverse.  If a Navigo Easy card has Paris Metro tickets loaded on it, that same card cannot be loaded with a CDG Airport ticket until all the Paris Metro tickets have been exhausted from the card.

So in your described situation, you'll be able to load a CDG Airport ticket onto a Navigo Easy card to get from CDG to your hotel in Paris.  Then, after you've spent that CDG Airport ticket and want to use the Metro, at that point you can use any automated ticket machine at Metro/RER stations to load one or more Paris Metro tickets onto that same Navigo Easy card.

Your idea of only loading Metro tickets on a need-to-use basis is a good as this will allow you to use that same card to load your return CDG Airport Ticket (since there won't be any unused Metro tickets on it).

Have a great trip.
