Tourist wanting to use navigo week pass

By | February 6, 2025 | in

Hello, I will be traveling to Paris with six friends and we want to use the public transport everyday atleast 2 times a day and get from Orly Airport to Paris, we travel only in the same week so I have unsderstood that navigo week pass is the correct option. As I have continued searching, my understanding is this: we have to get navigo decourverte card that can only be purchased in person in a sell point and there is one at orly airport in bus quay #5 of terminal 4, but that place can run out of blank cards? Is that right? Is there no way to more or less guarantee that my friends and i can get the card? Can I contact the place? Is it good if I get there on a thursday in the morning?

You have understood everything correctly.  There is no way to guarantee that the Orlybus ticket window will have blank Decouverte cards for you & your group.  They don't have a telephone or email to contact the one staff member inside the window.  If you're arriving in the morning I would imagine that would be better than arriving in the afternoon or evening.

This is an unfortunate feature of the bureaucratic nature of the regional transport system.  There are ways that this problem of running out of cards could be mostly solved, but it's not happened.  And this problem has existed for over a decade now.

If you do run into problems at Orly Airport, Gare Montparnasse, Gare de Lyon, Gare du Nord would be the places I would try to get a new Navigo Découverte card, from their Transilien / "Billets Ile-de-France" ticket windows/counters (not the Metro/RER ticket windows in front of the fare gates).  Those are usually large & well stocked.  Best of luck!
