Large Group Transportation

By | September 9, 2024 | in

Thank you very much for all of the information on your site. This will be very useful during our trip to Europe next summer. I will be traveling with a group of 14, which includes 8 adults and 6 children. We will be flying into CDG and staying 3 nights at Disney Paris, then staying 3 more nights in city centre (unsure of hotel yet-we are hoping to book somewhere next to a train station). Then we will be taking the train to London. I was wondering if you have a recommendation on the best forms of transportation from CDG to Disney, and then Disney to Paris center. We are trying to come up with a transportation plan that will be fairly simple since we will have kids and all of our luggage. Do you have any advice or recommendations? Thank you.

Hi Britany,

I generally recommend taking a TGV high speed train directly from CDG Terminal 2 to Disneyland train station (Marne la Vallée - Chessy) as it is very quick (9 or 10 minutes train travel time) and costs about 22€/person and there's luggage racks/storage areas on the train for large suitcases.

Taking the city trains RER B + RER A from CDG to Disneyland takes about 1 hour 30 minutes, requires a transfer/train change at Chatelet les Halles station in Paris, costs about 12€/person (unless child is 9 & under, then 9€), luggage must be kept with you near your seats or where you are standing (and be vigilant), and you must manage your tickets for everyone in order to use them at the exit turnstiles to exit the train station when arriving at Disneyland.

Either choice is viable and comes down to which is more your preference for time/cost.

I believe there are private shuttle bus companies who service CDG-Disney by coach bus, but I'm not familiar with them and can't offer any advice.

If you decide to go the TGV high speed train route, the website for purchasing the TGV train tickets (sncf-connect.com, the official/national rail company, linked in the first article linked above) has a group purchase website for buying for 10+ passengers in a single transaction, but it may be in French only.  You could try that for your group if you're OK language wise.  If not, you could just split your purchase into two transactions using the regular website (sncf-connect.com) and that would work as well.

For getting from Disneyland into Paris city center, I would take the RER A train.  The Marne la Vallée-Chessy train station at Disneyland serves both the TGV high speed trains and the regular speed city trains and this is the simplest, most direct route into the city.  The cost is 5€/adult and there is a discount for children 9 & under.  Ride is about 40-45 minutes.

For getting from Paris to London, the Eurostar train departs from Gare du Nord train station, so you may consider a hotel in that area if you're so inclined.  (If you decide on a hotel near Gare du Nord, when you're taking the RER A train from Disneyland back into Paris, you can use the same ticket to transfer from the RER A train onto the RER B train at Chatelet les Halles station, to go north one station up to Gare du Nord station on the RER B line.  This is the same transfer one would make if taking city trains from CDG to Disneyland, but in the reverse, RER A to RER B at Chatelet les Halles station.)

Hope this helps somewhat.  Feel free to post another question if you need clarification on some things I menion above or more questions come to mind about your stay.  Thanks for the kind words about the site.
